The Presidential Palace is a national key cultural relic protection unit and a famous tourist attraction. With many well-preserved remains of Chinese and Western architecture, the Presidential Palace is characterized with the unique culture and rich history. It has beautiful natural environment and a leisure zone of nearly 30000 square meters. We highly welcome visitors all over the world.

The Presidential Palace is located at No. 292 Changjiang Road, Nanjing, with a history of more than 600 years.

In the early Ming Dynasty, it successively served as the residence of Chen Li (the son of Chen Youliang) and Zhu Gaoxu. In the Qing Dynasty, it also served as the Office of Jiangnan Governor and Office of Liangjiang Governor, and was a part of Jiangning Weaving Museum.  The Qing Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong used it as the " temporary imperial palace" on their tour to Jiangnan. During the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Hong Xiuquan, the leader of the Kingdom constructed the Heavenly King’s Palace on a large scale. Since then, Zeng Guofan had reconstructed the Office of Liangjiang Governor here. Lin Zexu, Li Hongzhang, Liu Kunyi, Zhang Zhidong and other important officials of the Qing Dynasty all served as the Liangjiang Governor here.

On 1st January, 1912, Dr Sun Yat-sen was sworn as the Interim President in the Presidential Palace. During the following 15 years, it became the Office of Jiangsu Governor, the Vice Presidential Palace and so on. In 1927, Nanjing National Government was established. It also became the government offices. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, it was still the office of the National Government and the Presidential Palace

On 24th April, 1949, the People’s Liberation Army occupied the Presidential Palace. Then the Presidential Palace used to be the government offices. In 1998, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province decided to use it as the Nanjing Historical Remains Museum of Chinese Modern History. After a couple of years of establishments, the Presidential Palace has the current outlook.

Covering a space of 90000, the total area of the Presidential Palace is divided into 3 parts: the Central Line, the West Garden (Xuyuan Garden), and the East Garden.
